Ceci n’est pas Noire (This is not Black)

By Alesandra Seutin

Ceci n’est pas Noire (This is not Black) tells the journey of an Afropean woman through dance, theatre, spoken word and song. Delving into memories of her upbringing through the winding roads of Africa and Europe. Subjects and themes about the experience of identity unfold as perceptions of her change from place to place. She plays with masks, roles and attitudes, highlighting the idea that what you see is not always what you get.

Clay

By Yinka Esi Graves and Asha Thomas

In Clay, American contemporary dancer Asha Thomas and British flamenco bailaora Yinka Esi Graves draw from their collective memory and experiences to create a unique shared language. With routes spanning Jamaica, Ghana, and the American Deep South with its Baptist preachers, they explore the connections between who they believe themselves to be and the unconscious parts of their identities. Includes live music from award-winning flamenco guitarist Guillermo Guillen.
